Dubai, UAE: Business students at Murdoch University Dubai have been asked to create marketing plans to the Entertainer from which the international brand will choose the best for its 2015 product launch in Qatar. Early this month, the Entertainer’s Marketing Director Ms Liz Riemersma briefed the MBA and Marketing students at a lecture held at Murdoch University campus at Dubai International Academic City. Ms Riemersma’s workshop focused on structuring a strategic marketing plan; requiring Murdoch Dubai’s postgraduate students to be consultants in a real case situation.
The Entertainer is a Dubai based International brand that provides buy one get one free offers for the best restaurants, activities, attractions, spas and hotels across 40 destinations throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. Ms Riemersma heads up the brand’s marketing and communications across all 40 destinations in 15 countries. During the interactive session, she shared her expertise on the latest trends in consumer behaviour, strategic marketing and online channel integration.
According to Ms Zana Azeredo, who lectures on Strategic Marketing and Leadership at Murdoch University Dubai, “we’ve conducted numerous business case challenges including one for Mashreq Bank, UAE where our MBA students were asked to conduct research into the financial industry and come up with new marketing ideas for the remittance market”.
Ms Azeredo further commented on the business case challenge saying “Business Case Competitions constitute an important part of the course and cover market research, analysis, environmental scanning, understanding of consumer behaviour and financial projections amongst other topics”.
Ms Azeredo holds qualifications from leading international universities like Cranfield University, INSEAD and Harvard Business School. With over 17 years of global leadership experience, she has worked for or consulted with companies including Glaxo Smith Kline, Novartis, Procter & Gamble, GEMS Education, Rohm and Haas, Ripasa SA, Rigel Agropecuary, Scott Wilson and the United Nations.
