Abu Dhabi, UAE: Aldar Academies will host the BSME 2015 Junior Games at the New York Abu Dhabi University campus from March 12 to 14.
The BSME Games is running for the 12th year and has become one of the most-awaited games on the calendar of British Schools across the Middle East. Over 300 children from 10 participating schools across the GCC will travel to Abu Dhabi, accompanied by teachers and spectators to compete in a range of sports which include football, basketball, athletics, netball and swimming.
The schools taking part in the event include Al Mushrif Primary School, The Pearl Primary School, Al Yasmina School, Al Rabeah School (Abu Dhabi), Doha College (Qatar), Kuwait English School, British School Kuwait (Kuwait), British International School (KSA), British School Muscat (Oman) and Cairo English School (Egypt).
Nilay Ozral, Chief Executive Officer of Aldar Academies speaking ahead of the event said: “The spirit to compete brings out the best in us. It drives us to push ourselves to the limit. Sport is one such arena where we push boundaries to overcome all odds. At Aldar Academies’ six schools we nurture this spirit and as such, encourage one and all to run faster, leap higher and throw further. We believe sport and fitness are important elements of a student’s individual development and stresses the importance of goal setting.
It is a crucial dimension of the educational experience, which fundamentally works towards the building of character.” Robert Kirkland, event organiser and Head of P.E. at the Aldar Academies Al Mushrif Primary School also shared similar views, saying,“The BSME Games has become one of the most awaited games on the calendar of British Schools across the Middle East. It brings together teams, challengers and talents, but most importantly, it brings together a live energy that is fuelled by passion. We would like to thank National Ambulance Service, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, New York University, IFA Football Academy, Adventure HQ and H2O Swim Club for their kind support in ensuring this will be an event to remember.”
