Dubai, UAE: The winners of this year’s Dubai Schools Cup football competition were in the crowd at Old Trafford for Sunday’s Manchester derby in the English Premier League.
The 36 players of the three winning teams, all from Lycee Francais school, joined 75,000 fans to see home team Man United beat rivals Man City 4-2.
Ahmed Soudodi, regional brand manager for main sponsor Chevrolet, said the young players also had a training clinic with Man United’s coaches.
“We wanted to inspire them to find new roads, tap into new opportunities and open their eyes to endless possibilities,” Mr Soudodi said.
“We hope that witnessing these professional players in action at Old Trafford will help these young footballers to fine-tune their skills.”
Corentin Jaouen, captain of the under-16 boys’ team, said: “The match was very exciting and I have no words to describe it. It was just fantastic.”
Sabrina Zouein, captain of the under-17 girls’ team, said: “We had to work hard and play hard to get here and the trip has been amazing.”
The school’s under-14 boys’ team were also winners.
The second Dubai Schools Cup attracted more than 2,000 children from 55 schools in Dubai in a six-week competition.
