Dubai,UAE: The British University in Dubai (BUiD), the first research-based university in the region, has received accreditation for its MSc and PG Diploma in Project Management from the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) on April 10 2015. BUID is the first university in the Middle East, the 8th university in Asia, and 50th Worldwide to get its Project Management program accredited by PMI GAC Accreditation.
In order to achieve GAC accreditation. BUiD demonstrated that its programs met the GAC’s rigorous global standards of accreditation, which include an assessment objectives and outcomes, faculty and student evaluations, onsite and online resources, annual self-evaluation, and proof of continuous improvements in the area of project management education.
Prof. Abdullah Alshamsi, BUiD’s Vice Chancellor, said: “Getting our program accredited by PMI GAC shows the rigorous standards BUiD maintains for its programs and confirms the international quality of BUiD’s activities.”
The MSc in Project Management (offered in association with The University of Manchester) is designed to provide the students with the practical skills and theoretical background to become reflective practitioners able to initiate and implement change and make valuable contributions to industry and society. Applications are vast, and include industry sectors ranging from the Oil and Gas, IT & Communications, Banking and Finance, Manufacturing, Construction, Government and Social Development. The MSc. in Project Management is now accredited by PMI GAC, APM, and GAPPS, as well as the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of course.
The PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) was established by the PMI Board of Directors in 2001 as a specialized accrediting body that assures the quality of project management degree programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels. PMI is the world’s largest project management member association, representing more than half a million practitioners in over 185 countries.
