Abu Dhabi, UAE: A partnership forging academic guidance and research was signed between the Abu Dhabi School of Management [ADSM], a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Imperial College Business School, part of Imperial College London, in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Attending and officially signing the partnership agreement were Mohammad Helal Al Muhairi, Director-General, Abu Dhabi Chamber, and Professor G. Anand Anandalingam, Dean of Imperial College Business School.
The partnership will see Imperial College, one of the world’s best known and ranked universities, strengthen and increase its mentor role to ADSM, with support to ADSM’s teaching and academic quality review services, as well as providing professional advice on academic research. An exchange of students and faculty members between both educational institutions is also something being looked at for the future.
Speaking on the signing of the partnership, Al Muhairi said, “This coming together of one of the world’s leading international universities from London and a new local initiative from Abu Dhabi, is a testament to the visions of both institutions and their respective leaderships, faculty, and staff.”
“This agreement with Imperial College is exactly the kind of relationship encouraged under Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 … In looking for an international partner, we wanted a world-class university which was committed to entrepreneurship and innovation with a track record of achievements and a shared Abu Dhabi vision of what can be achieved. Imperial College was the perfect fit,” he added.
Professor Anandalingam also spoke positively about the partnership that would allow Imperial College to share its expertise in the UAE, and help with future challenges. “We are delighted to be working with the Abu Dhabi School of Management. This relationship allows us to continue sharing our unique approach to business education, technology and entrepreneurship with new audiences in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, while benefiting from the ADSM’s valuable local and regional business insights,” he said.
He added that Imperial College was very keen to work with the ADSM due to Abu Dhabi Chamber’s vision of working towards innovation and entrepreneurship for the future, rather than simply relying on oil, and that this was a testament to the forward thinking of the organisation.
Professor Abdullah Abonamah, President of the Abu Dhabi School of Management, said that Imperial College’s expertise would greatly benefit ADSM and help it in achieving its educational goals.
“Imperial College Business School is one of only 57 business schools in the world to have achieved a triple accreditation from the Associations to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the Association of MBAs, and the European Quality Improvement System. The information, knowledge and skills it will share will definitely be of great help in our school’s ability to fulfil its promise of world-class business entrepreneurial education,” he said.
